The Ohio Beverage Association recently joined the American Beverage Association in Washington, D.C. for a national fly-in, meeting with key members of Congress to advocate for Ohio’s vibrant nonalcoholic beverage industry. The event provided a valuable opportunity to highlight the industry’s economic contributions, community impact, and priorities for maintaining a strong and fair regulatory environment.
During the fly-in, representatives from the Ohio Beverage Association met directly with both of Ohio’s U.S. Senators, Bernie Moreno and Jon Husted, for meaningful conversations about the strength of the state’s beverage industry and the importance of policies that support job creation, innovation, and consumer choice.
The delegation also engaged in productive discussions with the offices of Representatives Joyce Beatty, Michael Rulli, Marcy Kaptur, Jim Jordan, Shontel Brown, David Taylor, and Max Miller. These meetings underscored the essential role of beverage companies in local economies across Ohio — from providing over 12,000 jobs to supporting charitable initiatives and sustainability efforts in large and small communities.
Key topics of conversation included the industry’s strong opposition to proposed restrictions on SNAP purchases, which would limit consumer choice and unfairly target a key segment of the food and beverage sector. Participants also emphasized the safety and integrity of beverage ingredients and the industry’s commitment to science-based regulation and transparency.
The Ohio Beverage Association is proud to advocate on behalf of its members and looks forward to continued collaboration with policymakers to ensure Ohio’s beverage industry remains a source of pride, innovation, and opportunity for all.
